Unity3D VFX Artist/Animator

Position Overview:

Company Name: NeoCrux

Title: Unity3D VFX Artist/Animator

Job Location: Virtual

Hours: Part time – Flexible hours

Compensation: Paid – Freelancer

The Position:

NeoCrux is currently looking for a Unity3D VFX Artist/Animator to help build its current game GalaCollider. GalaCollider is cross-platform game that innovates by combining the card genre with real-time and turn-based strategy elements into an exciting space-exploration experience with rich story and intuitive multiplayer gameplay.

We are looking for an eager candidate who is capable of creating game VFX from design ideas, concepts, and requirements.

Job Description:

As a member of NeoCrux, you’ll be required to perform the following tasks as required, including but not limited to:

  • Develop our particle effects for objects ranging from nebula clouds to weapon fire to highlighting elements, glows, sparkles, explosions, etc.
  • Translate design specifications into functional effects.
  • Communicate with other team members to establish effective pipeline and integrate your created assets.
  • You know about performance and can optimize effects for various device / platform optimization purposes – in terms of size, memory, and processor loads.
  • Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to address and mitigate these problems.
  • Help maintain effect quality, organization, and automatization.

Job Qualifications:

  • Experience with particle systems.
  • Your work examples should be on par with VFX you find in games like: Duelyst, Shardbound, Faeria, Gwent, Hearthstone, etc.
  • Quick learner, self-motivated, extremely detail-oriented with strong problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work accurately under tight deadlines and manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
  • Must be able to communicate over Discord and work in an online environment, including the ability to attend weekly meetings.
  • Able to work independently and within a small team.
  • Working knowledge of the card game and turn-based strategy genres.

The below qualifications are desirable, but not required:

  • It is an advantage to be good at C# coding – so you are more autonomous, but we can always plug you with a developer who can do the coding parts.
  • You should be able to do basic GIT pull, commit and push when you complete items so you can work with the team. If you’ve never used GIT before, but you think you can learn it, we can train you for the basics – but already knowing it is certainly an advantage.
  • Experience with mobile and console game development.

Interested applicants should apply by sending their cover letter and resume to careers@neocrux.com. We thank you for your interest and appreciate your time!  Feel free to ask us any questions you may have.
